Walney Terriers are an American Football club that is undergoing its first formation season.
The clubs manager is tryng to set out a structured youth and adult playing and training regime, this is a process that will be developed over several seasons.
The club when fully developed will field teams in several playing catorgaries, thus allowing persons from all age groups and sexes to be able to play American Football.
The age groups for players are from the age of seven and go on up to full adulthood. There are teams for boys and girls as well as men and women. All can participate equally.

Cadets play Flag football (non contact) in age groups from 7 to 11. They play in a tournement over one afternoon at the weekend. There are several close by teams in Lancashire who play the game.
Juniors (age group 12 -15) play flag football as well and in the same type of tournaments as Cadets.
Junior Contact  (age group 16-18) play full contact. There are several teams in the North who play this game.
Senior Contact (ages over 18) play full contact. Again there are several teams in the North who play this form of the sport.

Apart from players who are essential for the game, the club needs coaches, no experience required. Also required are persons who can help keep the club running ie admin staff and management teams.
Finally referees are required to help run the game succesfully.
No experience is required for any of these positions as traininig will be required.
In addition to help support the teams there will be a requirement for cheerleaders and also a marching band.

The clubs colours will be Gold helmet, Green shirts, Gold pants and Green socks. With white shirts for away games.
No matter your age or your sex if you are interested in participating and running  American Football teams please feel free to contact the e-mail address and pledge your support.
When enough people have shown an interest a meeting will be organised to present the clubs ideas and to listen to any fresh ones from any new members.
The primary task for the season of 2012 is to get an adult full contact team established and involved in training with the hope of playing several friendly games home and away to help get qualified for joining the league.

The club will be run as a non profiting making organisation for the enjoyment of the team members, on the field and off the field of all age groups and sex.
The team as a whole will endeavour to support the local communities and charities.

At the present moment the club is in discussions with two experienced coaches who are willing totrain and coach the team. Also several persons are interested in playing American football in the Furness area.
The first training session will be held in mid February, time and date to be confirmed. Before then it isplanned to hold a pre training meeting.
